Sally J. Wentross, MD (she/her) is a board-certified OB/GYN dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients through every stage of life. Originally from Michigan, Dr. Wentross earned her undergraduate degree in Spanish from Albion College before serving two years in Ecuador with the Peace Corps. She went on to receive her medical degree from Michigan State University and completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Oregon Health & Sciences University. She has enjoyed a full scope practice in obstetrics and gynecology and now focuses her practice exclusively on gynecologic care, offering expertise in preventative care, abnormal bleeding, contraceptive counseling, reproductive health and fertility planning, and care across the peri-menopausal and menopausal transition, and enjoys working with women from adolescence through post-menopause.
With a strong focus on offering patient-centered and culturally responsive care, Dr. Wentross is committed to treating the whole person and ensuring that her patients feel truly heard and understood. She strives to create a safe, welcoming space for all and values getting to know her patients and building relationships that empower them to make informed decisions about their health.
Dr. Wentross is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) and a fellow in the Pacific Coast Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her recent graduate level coursework in public health focused on population health and healthcare equity. She also participates in the IHI (Institute for Healthcare Improvement) with an emphasis on patient safety and quality of care.
Dr. Wentross’s time in the Peace Corps and her experience serving Portland’s diverse communities inform her inclusive, multicultural approach to care. She is fluent in Spanish and served for ten years as the Medical director at the bilingual Providence Prenatal Care Clinic. . She has also worked closely with Portland’s Somali population and is currently studying both American Sign Language and Arabic, recently completing her second year of coursework in each. She recently traveled with Yakote Women Farmers, a nonprofit working in northern Ghana, where she contributed to a maternal anemia prevention project and initiated infrastructure development at a school for deaf children.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Wentross enjoys cardio dance, yoga, hiking in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, writing, word games, playing and creating music while spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Wentross will initially be serving as a locums doctor -- seeing Dr. Suzuki's established and new patients -- yet also welcomes her own past established patients!
